All you need is a domain name and website hosting.

If you host your website with Smartweb, you will not be required to purchase a dedicated IP address. Some web hosting companies might require this. Please make sure to check this beforehand with your host.

For Organization & Extended Validation SSL Certificates, you will be required to validate the authenticity of your company with the CA.

The SSL warranty covers any losses your customers may incur as a direct result of the SSL encryption failing and their data being lost/stolen. Because of the incredibly high encryption strength of our SSL certificates, the likelihood of this occuring is slim to none.

There are three types of SSL certificates available depending on the number of addresses, or subject alternative names (SANs), you need to secure:

• Standard: 1 domain (i.e. www.yourdomain.com or mail.yourdomain.com)
• Wildcard: Unlimited subdomains (i.e. subdomain1.yourdomain.com & subdomain2.yourdomain.com)
• Multi-Domain: Multiple domains (i.e. www.yourdomain.com & www.otherdomain.com)

Secondly, the level of validation:

For most websites, a domain validation SSL certificate is generally sufficient. They are quick, affordable and offer a high level of security.

For larger enterprises and e-commerce websites, we recommend an EV certificate. EV certificates exclusively trigger the famous 'green address bar' which contain your business' name. This highly visible mark of trust is the ultimate way to generate consumer confidence and boost conversions.

You will be emailed an enrollment form for your certificate to complete. You will then be required to complete domain validation. You may choose to validate your domain either by email, file upload, or by adding DNS records.

Once you've completed domain validation, you will be issued your SSL certificate. Alternatively, if you purchased an Organization or Extended Validation certificate, you will be required to complete several steps to verify the identity of your business.
